Offcut: Metal Fab & Templates · Real Othello Keyan Stalman · Updated 13 October 2026
Offcut: Metal Fab & Templates ("Offcut") is published by Real Othello Keyan Stalman, Australia. This page explains what the app keeps and what leaves your phone. In short: no account, no advertising, no tracking, and nothing is sold.
What stays on your phone
The tube sizes you type, the joints you set up and the templates you save are stored on your iPhone. If iCloud is turned on for the app, Apple keeps a copy in your own iCloud account. We can't see it.
What reaches our server
- A random app identifier. The app makes up a random code when it first opens and uses it to talk to our server (for example to keep photo features within fair-use limits). It isn't your name, email, phone number or Apple ID.
- Photos you choose to have read. If you photograph the end of a tube or your welder's panel, that photo is sent to our server and on to our AI provider, xAI, to work out the tube shape or the welder's details. We don't keep the photo after it's been read. xAI handles it under its own API terms and privacy policy (x.ai). Don't photograph people or anything private.
- Templates made and subscriptions. To count free templates a day, the app sends a short code that stands for each new template (a scrambled fingerprint of its settings, not the template itself) with the random app identifier. If you subscribe to Offcut Pro, the app sends Apple's signed record of the purchase (product, dates, a transaction number) so the server knows the subscription is active. Apple doesn't give us your name, email or payment details.
- Refer a friend. If you use it, we keep your share code, which install used whose code, and the Apple offer codes given out, so each free month goes to the right phone.
- Anonymous usage counts. We may record which features are used (for example "a template was printed") to improve the app. These aren't linked to who you are and aren't used for advertising.
What we don't do
We don't ask for your name, email or location, we don't show ads, we don't track you across other apps or websites, and we don't sell or share data with anyone except the AI provider above, only when you ask the app to read a photo.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes everything stored on your phone. To have the random app identifier and its usage records removed from our server, email real.ok@outlook.com.
Children
Offcut is a tool for metalwork and isn't aimed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
